xAmplify appoints Tom Scicluna as CEO to lead next phase of national growth
As xAmplify enters its next phase of growth, driven by national expansion and increasing demand for AI-driven productivity and digital transformation, the company is enhancing its leadership structure to support its strategic ambitions while keeping customers at the heart of every decision
xAmplify has announced the appointment of Tom Scicluna as Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2027, with current CEO and Co-founder Wayne Gowland transitioning into the role of Executive Chairman. The planned succession marks an important step in the company’s growth, strengthening its leadership and supporting the next stage of its Digital One strategy.
Tom, who previously served as Chief Revenue Officer, will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of xAmplify, overseeing the company’s strategy, performance and continued growth. With more than 20 years of experience in technology consulting and client engagement, he brings a deep understanding of the challenges facing government and enterprise organisations. Wayne will continue to guide xAmplify as Executive Chairman, focusing on long-term strategy, investor relationships, key partnerships and Board leadership.
The transition reflects how much xAmplify has evolved in recent years and builds on a series of acquisitions, expansion into Western Australia and growing capabilities across enterprise platforms, AI, cyber security, cloud and business transformation.
“xAmplify today is a very different organisation in scale and capability from the business we were several years ago,” said Wayne Gowland.
“With that growth comes greater corporate, financial, and governance responsibility, but also an enormous opportunity to deepen the relationships we have with our customers. These changes give us greater leadership capacity on both fronts.”
A stronger focus on customers
Alongside the CEO appointment, Brendan Leonard will transition from his position as Chief Operating Officer to the role of Chief Customer Officer.
Brendan will lead the company’s strategic customer agenda, including Account Management and Strategy & Change, with a focus on strengthening relationships, driving innovation and AI, improving customer experiences and building long-term Managed Services partnerships.
The move reflects a broader ambition behind xAmplify’s Digital One strategy: bringing together strategy, technology, people, delivery and operations to create more connected, lasting outcomes for customers.
Rather than treating transformation as a series of separate projects, Digital One brings the breadth of xAmplify’s capabilities together around each customer’s needs, supporting them from initial strategy and implementation through to ongoing improvement and Managed Services.
“Digital One is ultimately about how we create more value for our customers,” said Tom Scicluna.
“We want to understand their businesses and technology priorities more deeply and bring together the right capabilities from across xAmplify around those needs.”
Tom also highlighted Brendan’s contribution as COO and the experience he brings to this new position.
“Brendan has done a tremendous job as COO. His experience across the business makes him exceptionally well positioned to lead this next phase, deepening our customer relationships and turning the breadth of xAmplify’s capability into better customer outcomes and sustainable growth.”
Michael Percival will become Chief Revenue Officer. With a stronger focus on both business leadership and customer relationships, the new structure positions xAmplify to continue growing while staying closely connected to the organisations it supports.
The company will undertake a managed transition over the next three months, ensuring continuity for customers, partners and employees as responsibilities move into the new structure.
For xAmplify, the focus remains the same: bringing the right people, expertise and technology together to help organisations make better decisions, build greater resilience and achieve continuous productivity.
