xAmplify strengthens ERP capability to ease Australia’s digital skills gap

Australia is facing a critical shortage of digital skills at the same time as governments and industries race to modernise the systems that support essential services.

Without urgent action, this shortfall risks slowing digital transformation, undermining productivity, and limiting the delivery of citizen-focused services, according to Wayne Gowland, CEO of xAmplify.

The 2025 Digital Pulse report found that half of Australian workers lack at least one digital skill required for their role, with the most common gaps in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics. These shortages affect not only competitiveness and efficiency but also broader national priorities such as economic growth, resilience, and public trust.

“Market shifts are accelerating, and system modernisation is top of mind for government and industry. The digital skills gap can unfortunately hold back this progress, leaving organisations struggling to adapt and risking Australia’s competitiveness,” said Mr Gowland.

To help address these challenges, xAmplify today announced the acquisition of Green Cloud Consulting, a specialist in TechnologyOne (TechOne) enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions.

These platforms bring together essential functions including finance, budgeting, asset management, HR, payroll and business intelligence into one integrated system. By consolidating and streamlining these functions, ERP systems allow governments and enterprises to operate more efficiently, reduce duplication, and concentrate talent on innovation and service improvement.

This approach aligns closely with the Federal Government’s Data and Digital Government Strategy (2023–2030), which sets out a roadmap for delivering more efficient, resilient, and citizen-focused digital services.

A key objective of the strategy is for the government to lead by example, modernising core systems, embracing emerging technologies, and building public trust through reliable and secure digital services.

“Beyond training more people, we need smarter systems that take pressure off scarce expertise. By combining Green Cloud Consulting’s ERP strengths with automation and AI, we can help governments and enterprises modernise faster, strengthen resilience, and ensure services keep pace with community expectations,” Mr Gowland said.

Tim Green, Founder and Director of Green Cloud Consulting, said the partnership would strengthen the way organisations realise value from ERP.

“ERP is evolving beyond process efficiency into a driver of genuine transformation. The next chapter with xAmplify means we can combine their government client base and transformation expertise with our ERP specialisation to deliver broader capabilities. This collaboration will help clients modernise with confidence and achieve outcomes that extend well beyond the technology itself” said Mr Green.

This announcement follows xAmplify’s acquisition of CTO Group in August and an investment from Macquarie Capital Principal Finance earlier this year, building momentum to expand capability, grow Australia’s digital workforce, and advance the nation’s digital transformation journey.
